Internet Security

Site Security

How secure is the BUYandHOLD website?

All of your personal and account information is displayed through our secure server software (Secure Sockets Layer or "SSL") which encrypts all information you type in before that information is sent to us. It also encrypts the information you receive from us in your browser?s window. You can determine if you?re on a secure page by looking for a locked padlock icon in your browser window. You can find it on Netscape in your "Navigation Toolbar" and in Internet Explorer at the bottom of your window.

BUYandHOLD uses the highest level of encryption to protect your account. Encryption is the translation of data into a secret code. Encryption is the most effective way to achieve data security. We offer multiple levels of encryption to accommodate many different browsers with various levels of encryption.

How do I ensure the security of my BUYandHOLD account on the Internet?

Never tell anyone your account number, password or password hint. Do not choose a password that would be easy for someone to guess (e.g., your birthday). If you write down your account number, username, password or password hint, place it in a safe place and never leave it near your computer. Always log out of your account before you leave your computer. We also recommend that you change your password frequently.

Security Certificate

Should I accept the security certificate?

The security certificate you received prior to logging in to your account is normal. Please accept it in order to enter your account. If you are receiving an error message stating that the Security Certificate may no longer be valid for Internet Explorer 4.X for a Macintosh, please review the Internet Security Certificate Information for Internet Explorer 4.5 for the Mac on Microsoft's website: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q249/5/39.ASP
