A Milestone and Investment Clubs

Success at last! I'm an investor, my son's an investor, and my parents are investors. I think that's everybody. I've taken the steps to secure financial assistance for all our futures. We deserve a generous pat on the back Moms. We made this a priority and followed through on it, despite our fears.

With so much information "under my belt" I wanted to see what else is out there. Online investment sites typically offer "individual", "joint", "custodial", and "investment club" options.

As I've traveled through cyberspace recently, however, I've really noticed an increased interest in investment clubs. Why? I think it is because anyone, of legal age, can start an investment club. There are now web sites galore that cater to investment club enthusiasts. I must admit that this idea has tweaked my interest. What fun to find other Moms who are web travelers and who have invested online. Forget Garden Clubs and Bridge Clubs…I really would like to join up with other risk takers who find the world wide web a thrilling and challenging adventure!

So, let's look a little closer at investment clubs. I located a very good place to start where I found many answers to common questions. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has an unbiased and informative article at their web site. About.com also has a very comprehensive web site that discusses many aspects of clubs, including several warnings and bewares. Other resources listed here include Canadian Clubs, East and West Clubs, International Clubs and Online Clubs.

I have found that most investment clubs are very specific and focused on several ideas that the members have in common. The choices are plentiful. It does take some checking, but you're bound to find one that meets your needs.

Entering the words "investment clubs" in a web search-engine rewarded me with over 500 (!) articles on this topic. Plan on spending some time reading about these.

And if you just absolutely cannot locate a club that caters to your interests, you know what? You can start your own club! That's right. You're in charge, you set the standards, and you do all the legwork. What power, what control! Get all the information you need first, but for some of us, this is always a challenging and uplifting option. If you'd like to consider this, The National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC) provides information on how to do-it-yourself.

Oh, what the heck. It's certainly worth looking into. I've noticed that when I can't find something I'm looking for, that's specific to my needs, I just do it myself. If you can't find an investment club that truly meets your needs, find a bunch of friends and invite them over. With a small group of trusted friends, with similar interests and goals, you may have found a great way to help each other learn and earn. And if you're interested, the ArmChair Millionaire web site answers many of the tax questions that are involved in investment clubs. Another good site to bookmark for future reference.

And of course, BUYandHOLD and bivio ™ have joined forces to help us get started in investment clubs. The web site for bivio ™ is certainly worth a quick check. The language of this site is for true newbies and is very informative.

That's it. This should keep us busy for a while. We've invested our money and now we're "quasi-experts." Let's locate other resources that help us diversify our holdings and that allow us to utilize the brains of a combined group of like-minded individuals.

Hard to believe, and what a scary thought. Another person who thinks, similar to me? Yikes…poor tortured and tormented soul. However, I wouldn't mind the company.

Thank you for joining me,

Joyce
